It's January and this is the month that we hear all about health. We start seeing more health and diet topics in magazines and healthy food goes on sale more. I don't mean to sound like Mrs. Goody-Goody, but I love all this. That's because I used to be VERY unhealthy. 

When I was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder, I not only took medicine that made me hungrier, but I turned to food for comfort as well. Unhealthy food took a toll on my body. I gained so much weight. 

Healthy Mind, Healthy Body

For the past 5 ½ years I have concentrated on one thing and one thing only … getting my son’s and my own mental health in tip top shape.  Finding the answer to decades of issues with my diagnosis of bipolar illness in 2009 was just the beginning for me.  At the same time, my son, age 8 at the time, was diagnosed with mood disorder, ADHD, and General Anxiety Disorder.  Not only was I overwhelmed with my own diagnosis, I also had a little boy who desperately needed help as well.  Life seemed hopeless to me and I nearly gave up.  I am not exactly sure how I made it through, b

What Mental Health Mean to Me

Mental Health is hard to pin down. People with depression, anxiety, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, and such aren't always as open as people with physical illnesses. For one reason, they don't feel as comfortable talking about their illness because of the treatment they receive from those who they open up to. Stigmatism is so prevalent in the Mental Health world. If I had cancer, I'd get more support and the best medical treatments I could ever imagine.
