Dr. Manuel Sanchez de Carmona:Current topics you need know about bipolar disorders

Currently Dr. Sanchez de Carmona is the President of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders.

Born in Mexico City and graduated from the Anahuac University School of Medicine, Mexico. He did his internship year at the Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami University School of Medicine.

He qualified as specialist in Psychiatry at Mexico’s National Institute of Psychiatry, Ramo?n de la Fuente in conjunction with the Mental Health Department of the Autonomous National Mexican University UNAM.!Dr. Sa?nchez de Carmona began his clinical work with bipolar disorders twenty years ago. He has participated in various clinical and educational programs for his colleagues, bipolar patients and their families.

He founded eight years ago ISBD Mexico, the Mexican chapter of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders and has actively participated in the development of an international network of chapters throughout Latin America. He presides Bipolar Connection, a national educational project aimed to reduce stigma, improve treatment adherence and quality of life. He has taken part as speaker and chairman in numerous forums and meetings held all over the world.

During the last six years he has held several leadership positions in the ISBD, among others the roles of Secretary Treasurer for the 2012-2014 term, Chair of ISBD Fundraising Committee, Co-Chair of the ISBD Advocacy Committee, and recently joined the Steering Committee for the World Bipolar Day.
